Know the difference between releasing your dog and rewarding your dog.
Video 1 shows Bentley holding a sit and then being released. If your dog is holding a command like ‘sit’, ‘down’, or ‘place’ you would release them with your release command once YOU are ready for them to move on. I typically use ‘alright’ but you can use ‘ok’, ‘free’, etc.
Video 2 shows me releasing & rewarding Bentley with a treat, pat & verbal praise after she was holding a down. Rewarding your dog occurs when they have successfully completed a task and you want them to know this behavior is encouraged. You can reward your dog with the treats or verbal praise (‘good dog’, ‘yes’, etc.).
